A strong voice and strong support for Victorian Landcare
Marking the thirty-year anniversary in Melbourne today, Senator the Hon. Bridget McKenzie, Minister for Agriculture launched the national Landcare 30-year anniversary celebrations to an audience which included local members, LVI Chair David Clark and many notable landcarers who have been involved since the formation of the moment in Victoria in 1986.
Attendees heard from Minister McKenzie who said ‘Australian farmers have an international reputation as sustainable land managers and Landcare has played a significant role in the future adoption of innovative agricultural practices”, “By making a difference and helping to create healthy soils, vegetation and supporting biodiversity, Landcarers and farmers are playing a part in growing a sustainable Australian agriculture industry.”
Newly appointed Landcare 30-year anniversary ambassador, Sophie Taylor-Price, paid tribute to her grandfather’s vision for the future by calling on all Australians to work together to enhance environmental conservation.

Tier 1 On-farm Energy Grants Open!
Applications close March 2020 or until available funding is exhausted (whichever comes first). The grants will provide support to farmers to replace energy inefficient equipment, install more energy efficient systems and enable own-generation capacity. Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program - Open for applications
This Grants Program supports communities in Victoria to ensure local war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour are restored to their original condition or improved to reflect the service history of the local community. Survey: State Volunteering Strategy
The Victorian Government has a 2018 election commitment to develop and implement a Volunteer Strategy to support and enhance volunteerism in Victoria. The strategy will be informed by extensive consultation across the Victorian public and volunteering community, seeking deep insights into the challenges and opportunities for volunteers, community members, and managers of volunteers and organisations. Mental health is an on-going issue in our society. To better support our farming community, we need a better understanding of what people on farms are thinking. To help, click into this news item to complete the on-line, anonymous survey. The survey results will enable planners, researchers and government to fully realise the extent of the problem.
